I guess I was rather optimistic when I said I’d try and be back at this by September…

Happy new year!

Well, since moving, everything has been pretty hectic! Not in a bad way though, just in a so much stuff is happening omg type of way. My new job has a lot less of the down time that allowed me to get so much translation done, that being said, my Japanese is improving, and  I can, somewhat, translate a little bit faster…when I have time haha

That being said, although my job schedule is very unpredictable(I work as a relief teacher, and get dispatched on assignments all over Tohoku), I’m starting to get a lot more settled into life in Miyagi and should hopefully have a little bit of time to translate things.

Sometime within the next month I’ll try and post the first chapter of Setsunasa wa biyaku no yoru, though to be honest, so far it’s not as interesting as Kono yoru was, so I’m thinking of switching to another novel, though I’m about a third of the way into Setsunasa…either way, I need as much Japanese practice as I can get, so there’ll be something at least!

Kono Tsumibukaki yoru ni-Chapter 10-Part 3

Well, dear readers, this is the final part of Kono Tsumibukaki yoru ni! I hope you’ve enjoyed it, I ended up liking this story a lot more than I thought I would! I started translating this one, simply because it was the first in the series, but became pretty fond of Kunitaka and Ryou by the end of it. They’re (mostly) a bit more grounded than some of the other characters, anyway I think.

At any rate, this blog will probably be pretty quiet till August/September. I’ve been living in Japan, in Shikoku, for the past three years as a participant on the JET programme, but I’m finishing up here in July, and will be moving to somewhere in Tohoku to start a new job in August, and probably going back to Australia for a few weeks in between, so, busy…

I’ve been translating Setsunasa wa yoru no biyaku, and will start posting that on the same basis once I’m a bit more settled in my new job.  Please look forward to it!

Final Seikanji series novels announced

Looking on twitter today, it was announced that the final two books of the Seikanji-ke series will be released on the 29th of February. The date was quite deliberately chosen, for those who have read/listened to Tsumi no Shitone, you’ll know that Fuyuki’s birthday is on the 29th of February.

It will be one title split into two parts, and the title will be 暁天の彼方に降る光 (Gyouten no kanata ni furu hikari), which in English becomes something like “Light that falls on the beyond of dawn”

If I remember correctly, in the afterword of Akatsuki no Ochiru Hoshi, Izumi Katsura wrote that the story would be coming back to “Kunitaka-tachi” *Kunitaka and the others), so I’m guessing they will mostly be about Kunitaka and Kazutaka, however that was from like 3 years ago so…

That’s all I have for now, but I’ll be back later this month with the next chapter of Kono Tsumi~

Kono Tsumibukaki Yoru ni-Chapter 8

Merry Christmas, happy new year! To be honest, my Christmas was utterly boring and unspecial, it’s a regular work day in Japan -_-

I’m going to Hokkaido for two weeks from tomorrow,so last minute chapter posting! I thought I might not get it up in time, there was a lot that needed to be edited/retranslated in this chapter…

Also relevantly Izumi Katsura posted on twitter yesterday(27th Dec)

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

“By the way, today is Ryouichirou’s birthday. Happy birthday…From here his hardships continue…..

I wonder what she means…

Chapter Nine

The following day, the pain in his body hadn’t much lessened, and going to work became all the more a depressing prospect.

It did not take long to get from his home in Azabu to the Army Staff Headquarters in Miyakezaka. It was not so far that he would get the car out, when he could commute by tram.

Really, all he wanted to do miss work, and go straight to Ryouichirou’s room, however with his near perfect attendance record, his colleagues would be suspicious if he suddenly took the day off. Ryouichirou didn’t have a phone, and calling other people in the neighbourhood, and having them hear their conversation, again was dangerous.

Seikanji Series Premium Fanbook

Posting this just in case~

Earlier this week Izumi Katsura posted on twitter about preorders for a “Seikanji Series Premium Fanbook”, but even if you can’t read Japanese it may still be of interest, the description on the site says that it will contain all the illustrations from the novels, a new short story and a MANGA?!

I confess I kind of lost my shit! Needless to say I’ll be ordering it~

Updates and Which novel to translate next?

The series guide page has been updated slightly, I’ve added two more of the novel blurbs, and links to other translations.

That site stats tell me there are at least a few people coming by and reading these translations, so if you’re reading, tell me which novel you’d like to see next! I’ve actually finished the main story of Kono Tsumibukaki, and am currently trying to decide which to do next…

The drama CD’s of Yogoto Mitsu wa Shitarite(Book 2), and Yogoto Mitsu wa Shitarite 2, which contains the Kazutaka side stories from Setsunasa wa Yoru no Biyaku(Book 3) and Kourou no yoru ni tsumi wo kamu(Book 5), and Tsumi no Shitone mo Nureru Yoru(Book 4) have been translated by others, so I feel for now there’s little point translating the corresponding novels for now…but that still leaves like 8 other novels…

The guide page gives at least a rough idea of what and who each novel is about, so if there’s one you really want to see translated first, let me know!

Let’s start at the beginning then…

Basically, this came about because I have far too much spare time at work, so I’ve been translating the first novel of Izumi Katsura’s Seikanji-ke series(While sitting in a Board of Education office in rural Japan. I’m classy like that.). I initially started doing to practice my Japanese, and try and keep in touch with my written English…which sounds ridiculous since I’m a native speaker, but ever since I graduated uni I feel like my ability in written English has just gone done the toilet.

There are translations and summaries of some of the Seikanji-ke novels and drama CD’s out there, and I’ll link to them as I work on this site, but basically, this site is to post my translations. At the moment I’m working on translating Kono Tsumibukaki Yoru ni, the first novel in the series, I’m actually about halfway through translating it, but I’ll probably post a new chapter ones a month or something like that, but I’ll also probably post summaries and translations of other BL novels, manga and drama CD’s further down the line. I’m also working on a page that lists the novels, which stories are in which novels, and which characters, and translations of the blurbs, but I’m still working on that~
